  Fantasy Texture
Has it really been almost 2 months since my last post?
My apologies for the hiatus, some things came up and I just haven't been doing much artwork, and thus have had nothing to blog about lately. I am attempting to get back to my art, I started with "Fantasy Texture:"

I started with a photo I found in morguefile.com:

I used Terrazzo on a section of the photo:

Then I used Painter's metal and impasto brushes to add some 3D texture:

I really like the way this turned out, I am fascinated with the ability to paint with "metals" and "liquids that don't evaporate or soak in" in Painter. It almost feels like soldering rather than painting--and done so effortlessly on a small graphics tablet! I intended for this piece to incorporate the fantastic metal textures with as many metallic elements as I could come up with, and the overall impression I was aiming for was that of a tapestry. A tapestry with a fantasy texture.
